WHY I BECAME A REALTOR
Real Estate has been an interest of mine since I was a child. My grandparents moved to California in the 70's and had
their house built from the ground up. I witnessed my Grandfather acquire 2 plots of land and then build on them again
in the mid 90's. Then my father landed a job with a real estate broker providing tech services to that broker's agents. I
heard a lot of stories growing up about my father's interactions with those agents. Right out of high school I heard about
a job opening at the same brokerage and I applied. I learned a lot of back-end operations in that position and it fueled
my interest even more. I spent the next 10 years supporting agents and coordinating transactions. My curiosity then
evolved into a desire to do it better. I started to believe that I could bring something to the table that a lot of agents
WHAT SETS ME APART
Being "above and beyond" implies that the forefront of my business practice involves me competing with other agent's
and that just makes me feel like I'm never going to have any other "Realtor Friends" and I don't like that. I don't want to
be above anyone, I want to fit just right.
I could provide an entire laundry list of traits that rank me above mediocre. I can also give you a laundry list of things I
could improve on. My first priority is my client's best interests. When I ask a prospective client to "pick me" it's because
I've spent the time listening and identifying what that person/parties needs and desires are and I feel like I could
successfully guide them through the process of purchasing or selling a property. I've found that my recent success has
been attributed to complete abandonment of what my own interests are or even what I feel is best for my client. I have
to look at you and say "If I were you and I wanted what you want and I knew what I know about real estate, how would I
make it happen?"
HOW I CONTRIBUTE TO MY COMMUNITY
Finding and creating housing for those that are in need is a major passion of mine. California's housing supply is slim
pickings as a lot of growth/developments has ceased. This is due to a lot of residents feeling that development will
aggravate traffic conditions. Environmentalists oppose growth because issues that relate to sprawl and loss of natural
resources. Developers themselves oppose it as California Regulations are responsible for almost of 1/3 of the cost
needed to develop. I am concerned about those that are unable to keep up with the housing supply and demand issues
relating to living in California. Finding and creating housing for those that are in need is a major passion of mine. I
contribute a percentage of every commission to a charity. I serve on the board of Sophias Angels and Habitat For
Humanity is in line to be my next major beneficiary.
Oh, those Mestaz's... My father is the reason I have the vision and my mother is the reason I know how to make it happen. I
am the oldest of four and all three of them are my spirit animals. My sister Carissa is the first one to show up and say:
"Boo Boo, I'm here. What happen? Do you want me to hold your hand?" My brother Sammy wants the Michael Jackson
song "Heal The World" to come to fruition. My kid sister Camille, I swear, is Baloo from The Jungle Book. She wants us all
to celebrate and laugh and enjoy the now. That's just my immediate family. Can I tell you though, I have grandparents
and uncles and aunts, and cousins, and cousin's children, and my parent's cousins and their children and they all know
how extra I am.
WHAT I DO AWAY FROM REAL ESTATE
I have two dogs. My first is Dulce (said like Dolce). She is a 7-year-old Corgi/Dachshund/Chihuahua mix. In her head, she is
a lion. My other is Zeus. He is a 4-year-old Gentle Giant Dogo Argentino Mix. He thinks he's a Maltese though. My dogs
are my lifeline. So most of my personal activities consist of doing things outdoors with them. I love hiking with them in
Wildwood Park or taking them to dog parks. This past year we discovered Rosie's Dog Beach and it was a hoot. Yoga,
Meditation and Contemplation are also other cornerstones in my life. I try to find a daily retreat to a place that allows
me to clear the clutter and make room for light.
WHERE I EXCEL
We are in a global market now. I target and devote a lot of energy to knowing my core market of Thousand Oaks and
Westlake Village. However, I love real estate, I love architecture, and I love the cultures that surround it. I like to watch
movies and try to find real-life locations that are similar. Last year I sold a house in Thousand Oaks while looking at run-down
factories and hangers in San Pedro because I wanted to figure out if you could really convert one of those types of
structures into a single-family residence. You can! I did that because of Sam's Apartment in the movie TRON Legacy.
WHY I CHOOSE BERKSHIRE HATHAWAY HOME SERVICES-- every day
Berkshire Hathaway's moral compass lines up with mine. My professional goals are that of long-term sustainability. I
want to work for a brand that is recognized as being a class act because that's what I want to be when I grow up. I want
to work for a company that I can be proud of.
